Yuji Kanehara is a former employee of a drone manufacturing company. Experiencing constant abuse and bullying by his co-workers on a daily basis, Yuji plots to take revenge using the company's own product to brutally murder them.
Kanehara has short black hair and black eyes.
Kanehara is an introvert with a fragile ego and low self-esteem. While mild-mannered outwardly, he deeply resents the harassment he receives from his colleagues. When provoked by Kogami, he desperately activates a drone using the floppy disk given to him by Makishima and becomes enraged, almost crazy, and bloodthirsty.
- In the novel version, Kanehara is a drug dealer.
- The name of the floppy disk he uses to override the drone's functions is named "Johnny Mnemonic," which is a reference to a William Gibson story of the same name. Gibson is widely credited with pioneering the cyberpunk genre to which Psycho-Pass belongs. A film adaptation was made of this story in 1995 starring Keanu Reeves.
