Kurata seems to be very lazy when it comes to doing anything. He's obsessive-compulsive and gets angry if someone accidentally moves personal belongings on his desk. He often behaves in a defiant manner towards Shinya Kogami, calling him "enthusiastic Gami-kun / 熱血ぴよ噛くん" as a way of demonstrating his irritation with Kogami's youthful passion. He even speaks to Kogami as if there's no difference between himself, a latent criminal, and the Inspector though he actually likes Kogami. Even though he seems brusque, he is caring towards his younger sister.
