Rina Takizaki

Rina Takizaki (滝崎リナ, Takizaki Rina) is a singer with the unauthorized band Prophecy who later joins the protest against the Sibyl System.

Appearance

Takizaki is a woman of average height and slender build who appears to be in her 20's. She has amber-colored eyes, irregularly cut blue hair and red lipstick at all times. She is typically seen in her stage outfit.

Personality

She has a rebellious personality. She loves her music and hates how Sibyl restricts creative freedom.

Personal Background

Takizaki meets Yayoi Kunizuka backstage during a Prophecy concert.
Later, Shinya Kogami secures a temporary release for Kunizuka from the isolation facility in order for her to assist Division 01 with an investigation.
When Takizaki appears, she wonders how Kunizuka got released and is told that she is with the Criminal Investigation Department. Upon hearing this, Takizaki tries to persuade Kunizuka to join the rebellion. Kunizuka refuses and aims her Dominator at the singer. Takizaki remains confident that Kunizuka will not shoot her, but Kunizuka pulls the trigger. The Dominator fails to fire because Kunizuka is not a registered user, but the incident inspires her to become a law enforcement agent of the Public Safety Bureau.^[2]

Relationships

Yayoi Kunizuka

Despite being an unauthorized musician and rebel, Kunizuka enjoys a brief intimate relationship with her. They care for each other, but this doesn't stop Takizaki from pursuing her politics, nor Kunizuka from trying to stop her. After Kunizuka becomes an Enforcer, Takizaki sends their sex video to the CID where it is seized by Analyst Shion Karanomori. This eventually leads to Karanomori and Kunizuka becoming a couple.^[3]

Etymology

The name Rina (4) is written in katakana (リナ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (莉奈, 里菜, 莉菜 or 里奈), it could possibly mean:**莉奈 - "white jasmine" (莉) (ri) and "apple tree" (奈) (na).
- 里菜 - "village" (里) (ri) and "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na).
- 莉菜 - "white jasmine" (莉) (ri) and "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na).
- 里奈 - "village" (里) (ri) and "apple tree" (奈) (na).
Rina's surname Takizaki means "waterfall, cascade, watering place" (滝) (taki) and "cape, peninsula" (崎) (saki/zaki).

Trivia

Kunizuka describes Takizaki as her "lifelong shame" when Karanomori comments that Kunizuka's ex-girlfriend has unique sex interests.^[3]
